Comedian and radio personality Joe Clair served as the live auction host.

The honorees that were celebrated for being heroes in their communities included Mayor Bowser, Philanthropy Award recipient Ted Leonsis, founder and majority owner of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, Corporate Community Uplift Award recipient Gina Adams and the Impact Leader Award Tina Frundt, founder of Courtney’s House.

Also, thousands of dollars in scholarships were given away to local students.

Patti LaBelle performed for over an hour of some of her biggest hits. I was thoroughly impressed by her stage show and her energy. After all her and my grandmother are literally the same age.
